How is a pizza oven different than a regular oven?

One of the biggest differences is heat.  Most pizza ovens will reach much higher temperatures and maintain heat longer than a regular oven.  This not only cooks your pizzas faster but is a more favorable environment for your pizza crust. Pizza ovens also offer a wider variety of options such as fuel type, size, portability, aesthetics and outdoor/indoor use depending on the oven you select.  For more information, check out What kind of pizza oven should I buy? – Firefly Pizza Ovens.

Can I only cook pizza in my pizza oven?

We do have some ovens specifically designed to cook pizza but most of our ovens offer endless cooking options!  From fish to steak or dessert to vegetables, most of our ovens can do it all!  Things to consider if wanting to cook a large variety of items is the oven size as well as the oven opening.

What is better, a wood burning pizza oven or gas pizza oven?

This question, like many things, comes down to personal preference and lifestyle.  The type of fuel used affects the heat, burn time, and sometimes the overall flavor of the pizza. Many pizza aficionados prefer the traditional experience of a wood-fired pizza oven and believe the smokey flavor contributed cannot be replicated.  While wood-fired pizza ovens remain warm for a long time, natural gas or propane pizza ovens are thought to be easier to light and the temperature is easier to control. Gas ovens also do not require wood to be kept on hand. Alternatively, you can have the best of both worlds with a gas-assisted wood-fired pizza oven, also known as a hybrid or dual fuel pizza oven.

How much are shipping costs?

Shipping costs vary depending on the size, weight and the shipping location of the oven.  Also, for some of our heavier/larger ovens a lift gate might be required which is an additional cost.  We do frequently have free shipping promotions so keep an eye out!

How long will it take to receive my pizza oven?

Most of our ovens arrive within two weeks of your order date although times do sometimes vary depending on if an item is in stock.

If I buy a large traditional style pizza oven, will it be installed upon delivery?

Unfortunately, most of our freight companies will only offer curbside delivery.  The good news is that our traditional ovens are shipped with hooks installed so they can attach to an engine hoist or comparable device to be easily moved to the location needed.

How much will the sales tax be?

There is no sales tax if shipping outside of Louisiana!

I’ve heard about curing my oven.  Do I need to do this?

If you are purchasing an oven with natural materials (i.e. firebrick, clay, refractory cement, etc) the answer is yes.  See our article about curing your oven at Why Should I Cure My Brick Pizza Oven and What is The Curing Process? – Firefly Pizza Ovens.

Do I need to keep my oven covered?

It is important that your oven is protected from the elements...especially moisture.  If your oven is not protected under a covered area, we strongly recommend using a cover.  In some cases, cover use is required for your warranty to remain intact.
